This Bearbrick unites two icons of British pop culture: Sooty, the legendary yellow bear hand puppet that has enchanted generations of children since 1948, and Kellogg’s Puffa Puffa Rice, a cult breakfast cereal of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The unusual collaboration began in 1973 when Kellogg’s hired the silent magic bear as the mascot for the sweet puffed rice. Although the partnership only lasted until 1975 before the cereal disappeared from the market, this nostalgic connection remains in the hearts of many.

Sooty himself was discovered in 1948 by Harry Corbett in a souvenir shop on Blackpool North Pier for seven shillings and six pence. Originally named “Teddy” and bought to entertain his sons David and Peter, the puppet was given black ears and renamed “Sooty.” In 1952, Corbett won the BBC talent show “Talent Night” with Sooty, leading to his own series, “The Sooty Show,” starting in 1955. The series became the longest-running children’s program in the world and made Sooty famous with his iconic spell “Izzy Wizzy, Let’s Get Busy” and his water pistol. Sweep, the squeaky dog, joined the cast in 1957, followed by Soo the panda in 1964.
