Andy Warhol Bearbricks put one of the most recognisable names in twentieth-century art onto a figure costing a few hundred dollars rather than a few hundred thousand. What is an Andy Warhol Bearbrick?

A Medicom BE@RBRICK produced under licence with the Andy Warhol Foundation, carrying either Warhol’s artwork or his own likeness. The figure is the standard nine-part form; the artwork is the entire variable.

That is precisely why the collaboration works. Warhol’s practice was about reproduction, seriality and turning consumer objects into art — applying it to a mass-produced vinyl bear is closer to the spirit of the work than most licensed art merchandise gets.

What are the main Warhol Bearbrick designs?

Three strands: the “SPECIAL” editions using Warhol’s own image, the portrait series, and the Basquiat collaborations.

What are the Warhol x Basquiat Bearbricks?

Numbered releases combining both artists, reflecting the roughly 150 canvases they actually painted together between 1984 and 1985. They are issued as #3, #4, #5 and so on rather than as a single design.

Are Warhol Bearbricks a good investment?

Artist editions have historically held value better than licensed character figures, because they attract buyers from the art market as well as the toy market.

That said, the honest position is the same as for the rest of the range: edition size matters more than the name.
